Acceptable Use Policy

1. Purpose
This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") sets out the rules for using the Freevent platform, website, mobile applications, and related services (the "Service"), operated by [ENTITY NAME] ("Freevent", "we", "us").
This AUP is incorporated into and forms part of our Terms of Service. By using the Service, you agree to comply with this AUP. Violations of this AUP may result in warnings, content removal, account suspension, or account termination, at our sole discretion.
2. Prohibited Conduct
You must not, and must not attempt to or encourage others to:
2.1 Misuse user accounts and identity
- Create accounts using false, misleading, or fictitious information
- Impersonate any person, including another Freevent user, a public figure, or a brand you do not represent
- Maintain more than one personal account
- Share your account credentials with another person
- Buy, sell, transfer, or rent Freevent accounts
- Create accounts for the purpose of evading bans or restrictions
2.2 Harm, harass, or threaten others
- Post content or send messages that bully, harass, threaten, intimidate, or stalk any person
- Promote, glorify, or incite violence, self-harm, or suicide
- Engage in hate speech or discrimination based on race, ethnicity, religion, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, age, or any other protected characteristic
- Encourage or facilitate the harm or exploitation of any person, particularly minors
- Out, expose, or threaten to expose private information about another person without consent (doxxing)
2.3 Post unlawful, harmful, or inappropriate content
- Post content that is unlawful under Nigerian or applicable law
- Post sexually explicit content, nudity, or content that sexualises any person
- Post any content involving minors in a sexual, exploitative, or abusive context (this will be reported to relevant authorities)
- Post graphically violent, gory, or shocking content
- Post content that infringes the intellectual property, privacy, publicity, or other rights of any third party
- Post content that violates the privacy of others, including unauthorised photos or recordings
2.4 Spam, advertise, or commit fraud
- Send unsolicited promotional messages, advertisements, or bulk communications
- Use the Service to advertise unrelated products or services
- Engage in pyramid schemes, multi-level marketing, or other deceptive financial schemes
- Manipulate event metrics (e.g. inflate RSVP counts, hype scores, ratings, friend counts) through artificial means
- Create fake events to collect attendee information or for other deceptive purposes
- Use the Service to launder money, finance terrorism, or conduct other illegal financial activity
2.5 Disrupt, attack, or interfere with the Service
- Use bots, scrapers, crawlers, or other automated means to access the Service, except as permitted by us in writing
- Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or otherwise attempt to derive the source code of the Service
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Service, other users' accounts, or our infrastructure
- Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Service or any system or network connected to it
- Upload, transmit, or distribute viruses, malware, worms, trojan horses, or any other harmful code
- Conduct denial-of-service or distributed denial-of-service attacks
- Interfere with or disrupt the integrity, performance, or availability of the Service
- Bypass, circumvent, or attempt to bypass any access controls, security features, or rate limits
2.6 Misuse data and privacy
- Collect, scrape, or harvest personal information of other users without their consent
- Use any user's personal information (including profile photos, names, RSVP history) for purposes other than legitimate platform use
- Use the Service to build databases, lists, or profiles of users
- Use information obtained from the Service to contact users outside the Service for marketing purposes without their consent
2.7 Misuse the Service as an organiser
If you are an event organiser using Freevent, you must not:
- Create events that violate the law or these terms
- Misrepresent the nature, location, time, or organiser of an event
- Require attendees to pay or provide consideration that is not disclosed in the event description
- Discriminate against attendees on protected grounds in deciding admission to events
- Use attendee personal information for any purpose other than managing the event without separate consent
- Sell or transfer attendee personal information to any third party
2.8 Misrepresent your relationship with us or with brands
- Claim or imply endorsement, partnership, or affiliation with Freevent without our written authorisation
- Use Freevent trademarks, logos, or branding without our written authorisation
- Use brand names, trademarks, or copyrighted material of any third party without authorisation from that third party (this includes posting event content that misuses brand assets you do not own)
2.9 Other prohibited conduct
- Use the Service in any way that violates applicable law or regulation in Nigeria or in any jurisdiction where the Service is used
- Use the Service in a manner that is grossly offensive or otherwise objectionable to a reasonable person
- Encourage, enable, or assist any other party to do any of the foregoing
3. Reporting Violations
If you encounter content or conduct that violates this AUP, please report it to us:

- In-app: use the "Report" function on any user profile, event, or piece of content
When reporting, please include:
- A description of the content or conduct
- A link or screenshot, if applicable
- Any other information you believe is relevant
We aim to acknowledge reports within 2 business days and to resolve clear-cut cases within 7 business days. Complex investigations may take longer.
We do not disclose information about reporters to the reported party.
4. Enforcement
When we determine that a violation has occurred, we may take one or more of the following actions, at our discretion and based on the severity and history of the violation:
- Issue a warning to the user
- Remove or restrict access to the offending content
- Temporarily suspend the user's account
- Permanently terminate the user's account
- Remove the user's events from the Service (if an organiser)
- Notify law enforcement or relevant authorities where required by law or where the conduct involves serious risk to safety
For serious violations (such as content involving the sexual exploitation of minors, threats of violence, or organised criminal activity), we may take immediate action without prior warning and may report the matter to law enforcement.
We aim to be fair and proportionate in our enforcement decisions. Where reasonable and appropriate, we will give users an opportunity to remedy a violation or appeal an enforcement decision.

If you believe we have taken enforcement action against you in error, you may appeal by writing to:

- Any supporting context or evidence
We will review your appeal and respond within 14 business days. Our decision on appeal is final.
6. Changes to This Policy
We may update this AUP from time to time to address emerging risks and to clarify our expectations. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date and notify users where required.
